Mixed Wood Table Lamp.
This
lamp brings the warmth of wood into your living room or
den by combining two complimentary woods together in a
simple and contemporary table lamp. The cherry and
walnut combination almost glows under the incandescent
light. The top, base and trim pieces of our lamp are
walnut, with the lamp itself being made of cherry.
You
could also reverse the walnut/cherry combination, use a
cherry/maple combination, or even a maple/walnut
combination. The lamp is essentially a tall box with
custom molding on the edges and covered by a top and
bottom cap.
This unique plan
design uses simple, straightforward joinery — most of
which consists of simply screwing one board to another.
You'll need to cut a rabbet for the shaft and some half
laps for the base, but we'll show you the techniques for
doing that.
The lamp
hardware can be found at any hardware store or home
improvement center. And if you’re not comfortable with
the wiring, your local lamp shop should be able to help
with any questions.
